The wedding of

Rebecca and Alexander

Venue

The Orangery

We have hired the Orangery exclusively for our ceremony, wedding breakfast and evening reception.

The Orangery is set within nine-acres of beautifully landscaped gardens. We intend to be married outside in the Gazebo with the indoor Garden Room as backup.

Some areas of the Orangery do not have a paved footpath including the Gazebo, so you may want lawn-friendly shoes!

Facilites

There are indoor and outdoor toilets with baby changing facilities indoors.

Wheelchair Access

The Orangery and gardens are wheelchair friendly with disabled toilets both indoors and outdoors.

Evening Reception

We haved hired a DJ for the evening reception and we will provide a hot-food buffet. The cash bar is open until 11.40 pm with drinks charged at pub prices.

Directions to the Orangery

By Road

Maidstone is in West Kent and is easily accessed via the M20. Of the three main roads into Maidstone the A249 is best, as you avoid the one-way system:

  1. Turn off the M20 at junction 7 and follow the signs for the  A249(S) Maidstone
  2. Leading up to the roundabout use the slip lane to take the first exit left, and follow the signs for Bearsted and Turkey Mill
  3. At the next roundabout take the third exit and follow the signs for The Maidstone Studios
  4. Thereafter at each roundabout continue straight ahead and follow the signs for Bearsted
  5. At the end of the road turn right and follow the signs for  Turkey Mill
  6. The entrance to Turkey Mill will be on your left immediately after a pelican crossing
  7. Pass under the railway arch and at the roundabout take the last exit and follow the signs for the Orangery Parking

Parking

The Orangery has its own dedicated car park. Cars can be left overnight, but must be collected by noon the following day.

To view a map download the Orangery Parking Instructions (520 KB) PDF.

By Rail

Maidstone has three stations: East, Barracks and West. The East station is closest, but all are central and within a short distance of one another. The Orangery is a 20 minute walk, or a 5–10 minute taxi ride.

On Foot

From the main road use the pelican crossing and follow the painted path across the car park. Look for the sign Brook House Entrance and follow the path between buildings.

Venue Entrance

From the first zebra crossing, follow the path between the building and the large tree. The entrance to the Orangery is through an iron gate ahead on the right.

Some guests will be staying the night before the wedding, so the default check-in date is the 13th. Please change this before clicking on Check availability as you don’t seem to be able to change this later on in the booking process.

Check-in is from 3 pm. Guests attending the ceremony may wish to request an early check-in which can be done when you book.

Book a room

marriott.co.uk

The Marriott is a 45 minute walk, or a 5 minute drive from the Orangery.

Family Rooms

All rooms sleep at most two adults. For young children you can request a crib or a rollaway bed. For older children you will need to book two rooms. You can request these rooms to be connecting or adjoining.

To make either request when you book your room, select the Make Request button on the Review Reservation Details page. You can also request these when you check-in.

Payment

The Marriott will ask for your credit card details when you book a room. But they will not take payment until you check-out. If you use a debit card the Marriott will take payment when you check-in plus a £50 deposit.

Help with booking

Unfortunately the booking form is not that clear and their help page is well hidden. The most useful help page I’ve found is the Reservation Assistance FAQ.

Other places to stay

If you’d prefer to make your own arrangements there are plenty of alternatives in Maidstone:

Transport

We will arrange transport to the Marriott after the evening reception. Please let us know in your RSVP if you intend to stay at the Marriott.

If you are not staying at the Marriott we recommended you book a taxi, as it’s a) Maidstone and b) Friday night!

Wedding Gifts

To celebrate our wedding with us is truly all we ask. But if you would like to give us something we do have a few items on a John Lewis Gift List, or you can give a donation to our honeymoon.
